As An Example
2-4 Guide older men into lives of temperance, dignity, and wisdom, into healthy faith, love, and endurance. Guide older women into lives of reverence so they end up as neither gossips nor drunks, but models of goodness. By looking at them, the younger women will know how to love their husbands and children, be virtuous and pure, keep a good house, be good wives. We don’t want anyone looking down on God’s Message because of their behavior. Also, guide the young men to live disciplined lives.
But mostly, show them all this by doing it yourself, trustworthy in your teaching, your words solid and sane.

1-7 對老年人要勸導他們節制自重，生活要有智慧，要表現出合宜的信心、愛心和忍耐。對年老的婦女要勸導她們過敬虔的生活，不要說讒言，不醉酒，卻要在善行上作榜樣；這樣，年輕的婦女看見她們，就知道該怎樣愛惜自己的丈夫和兒女，懂得保持莊重和貞潔，妥善料理家務，作丈夫的好妻子，免得因信徒行為不檢，令神的道被毀謗。同樣，也要勸導年輕人要自律。
然而最重要的是，你要在這各樣事情上作榜樣，教導要純正，說話要莊重。
